I was sitting in my apartment with my sister.  Looking at us, you’d never know that we were different than any other pair of sisters.  We are though, unless your normal sisters are witches.

“So, Samantha,” Christie started as she picked up her soda, “you and Lewis have been dating for three years now, right?”

“Yup, today’s our anniversary.”

“Where is he taking you?”

“I have no idea, he won’t tell me anything; it’s annoying.”

“A guy that uses his time to plan something romantic?  Sounds like a catch to me.”  She wiggled her eyebrows.
I choked on my drink.  “Don’t ever do that again, it makes you look silly.”

“When is he coming?”

“I donno, he said he’d call me about an hour before he picks me up.”

“Fine then, let’s go shopping.”

“Why?  Am I missing something?”

“You’re one of the only blondes in the world who doesn’t try to find an excuse to go shopping?  What type of big sister would I be if I didn’t make sure you had something awesome to wear on your anniversary?”

I smiled  “Thanks, Christie.”

“You can tell it’s summertime when all the stores are selling bikinis…”

“Yeah, Christie, because living near Clearwater Beach soooo wasn't your idea.”

“The best one I ever made.  Oh, isn't this the cutest little summer dress?”  She grabbed my hand and led me over to a manikin.

On it was a deep green summer dress, some matching sandal flats, and it was holding a golden clutch purse.  I fell in love with it.  I looked to the rack next to the manikin and searched for one in my size.  “I am so getting this, good thing the price is only twenty dollars.”  I grabbed the dress and shoes and headed over to the fitting rooms.
When I stepped out, my sister’s eyes lit up.  “Lewis will love you in it.”

“Really?”

“I think it’s missing something though.”  She waved her hand and the air around it started to glow blue.  I spun around and let her work her magic on the dress.  When she was done, it was shiny, almost like silk; it looked more like a formal dress than a sun dress.  “Now, you have the perfect thing to wear.”

After dinner, Lewis and I were walking on the beach.  It was a cloudy night and so beautiful.  “I had such a great night.”

He put his arm around me, “I’m glad.” He lifted his hand and manipulated the clouds.  I looked at the words he formed and smiled.

Marry me.

“Yes, I will marry you, my sorcerer.”

“I’m glad, my little witch.”

The following kiss was the best in my life; I had never wanted to be anywhere more than on that beach with Lewis, in his arms.  This was going to be the rest of my life, and I was overjoyed by that.  I love him.

“Did my sister know?”

“She helped me plan it all.”

“You are sneaky,”

“I know, love”
Hi. This is my first shot at a short story like this. 500 words, so I'm actually surprised that I was able to pull it together like I did... 500 words is such a short limit...

Did you like it? If so could you please go here and heart it for me? [link] it's for a competition for it to be featured on the Seventeen magazine website and $5,000. You can sign up at the website too if you so desire. Thank you!
